Rash on Face after sun exposure

i have had this rash that comes up after being in the sunlight for years. I have been to 3 different doctors that told me different things. I was told it was roseca and given metro gel and steriod (did not help at all), told it was skin prducing to much oil (gave me face wash and oil reducing lotion- yeah that didn't work either, just made skin peel but rash was still there after sun exposure), one even said I don't know what it is. But he gave me another cream that was really harsh on my skin. I use sensitive skin face sunscreen now when I know i am going outside for a while. It is 70spf. i have also used the cetaphil soap and lotion did not do much at all. Cortizone10 works little bit but not much. What else can I try. This is killing me. It looks horrible to the point I hate getting my picture taken becaue all you can see is the red rash. It is on both cheeks and across nose. I have attached pictures

So, do I understand correctly that this rash only shows up after you have been in the sun?  And it still shows up, even with using strong sunscreen?  This has been going on for years?

How long does it stay this pink for?  Is it painful?  I am guessing the doctors you are referring to are dermatoligist?

I wish I had an answer for you.  My DH also has a undiagnosed itch that seems to be fueled by sunexposure, but like you....no one thing seems to really fix it.   Seems all he can do is "kind of sort of" curb it.   So whether it be a rash or an itch, it is not fun.

I would just keep reaching out where ever you can and hopefully someone can lead you in a better direction.

I am guessing you already put sunscreen on every day before you leave the house?  (Of which, I don't even know for sure whether that would make a difference)  Have you tried an aloe based after sun type gel?

Have you seen an alternative doctor?  You may need a diagnoses from an alternative source that may have a natural remedy for you.

Sorry for the babling, just trying to throw out every thing I can think of off of the top of my head.  Good luck!

When did this start happening and what changed in your life when it did start happening? Are you on any sort of prescription medication? If so, I would check into the side-effects.

To me it does look like Rosacea. I feel for you because I know how frustrating it can be, I have had it for about 14 years. I have a somewhat different type and its not triggered by sun exposure although I get the flushing on my cheeks from alcohol and some other triggers that I haven't identified. I'd be happy to tell you what works or doesn't work for me (I've tried some of the same things you tried)....kind of a book to write here where most people won't care. If you want to talk about it, send me a PM and I'll be happy to share info with you.
