Well, technically, peri-menopause is that time of life when our body is winding down its production of the female sex hormones. (We liken it to puberty in reverse!) It can last for up to 15 years and often the symptoms we have to deal with are multiple and can vary widely. It can begin as early as the mid-30s. The average age for a woman to reach "menopause" is 51. But remember that menopause is merely a point in time - that time at which you have gone one full year without any menstrual bleeding. Beyond that time you are post-menopausal.

So, while you have most definitely been dealing with peri-menopause, you are still not post-menopausal.  We always suggest that our visitors see their doctor for any "unusual bleeding" and in your case this is most definitely unusual.  I doubt it is anything to worry about, but you do need to be sure.

Please know that you are welcome here anytime; to vent (it really can help!); to ask questions; to share experiences; or to just hang out with other gals who understand and care.

Remember, there are NO dumb questions regarding menopause!

Technically you are not in menopause until you have gone a whole year without any bleeding at all so you are probably ok. The same thing just happened to a friend of mine and she went to her gyno and was told she is ok but, you should definitely call your doctor and talk to him/her about this just to be sure.
