Cholesterol confused.

I'll start off just saying that I know this situation is BAD and I'm working on improving it.

That said, here's the bad.

Age: 28
Weight: 238
Height: 5'8"

Triglycerides: 230
HDL Cholesterol: 39

VLDL Cholesterol Cal: 46
LDL Cholesterol Calc: 106
(not even sure what this is?)

Side notes:
Also found out I'm low on Vitamin D and highly allergic to wheat, milk and eggs.

My Dr. started me on a cholesterol medicine that I almost always remember to take and I'm also taking Vitamin D and drinking the protein/fruit/vegetable shakes in the morning that he recommended. I've lost about 5 lbs since last month and when I avoid the allergens I feel MUCH better.

Is there anything I should know about lowering my triglycerides besides working on eating more fruits/vegetables, exercising and losing weight?

Thanks!

Hi so sorry I didn't reply to you sooner.

Right now I am having issues with my cholesterol to.

I have managed to lower the bad but need to raise the good.

Does that make sense?

It is very confusing.

I am medication for the cholesterol and am working on hopefully raising my good cholesterol.

One thing I was told is both diet and exercise.

Exercise is a bit of an issue with me so we are trying to concentrate on diet.

It's more about eating the right things.

They told me it's not all about elimination but adding good things.

I will try to find some more information and get back to you.

Hi Carol,

Happy New Year!

I am on a statin to.

Right now I am trying to raise the good cholesterol.

Thanks for responding to the op.

Yesterday we had literally no snow today and overnight it's like a winter wonderland!

Last year my cholesterol was bad. The good was too low, the bad too high and my triglycerides were high.

Great job Kathy! I was able to do the same thing a few years ago... I lost weight, started eating more oatmeal and whole grains and my cholesterol did a nice turn around. :) Feels great, doesn't it?
