Do you ever think about how healthy your heart is? Name something you do to make sure your heart stays healthy.

Thank-you for your kind words.

Yes, it was her heart.

I miss her very much.

Stress is something I am trying to cope/deal with to.

I read where you can try to eliminate it, reduce it or cope with it.

I will try to find out some more information to share about Stress.

sorry to hear about your friend.. was it her heart?

I lost weight and I walk and I am so watching my diet like crazy. I have cut out alot of salty stuff and . I dont smoke but I am almost 58 years old and I do take meds for high bp so far.. but I am getting a bit concerned about other disease as I age. I just gave up sugar and high carbs and trying to stay as proactive as I can.. I just dont think its enough but what else can we do?

I think for me I have a hard time managing stress. I always say I will do yoga or meditation but I dont.. The stress thing is the worst for me because my life is not exactly where I want it to be.

I always think let me live the life I want and have less stress but with other concerns I never get around to actually really doing that.

Excellent Question Karla!

I do think about it.

My Mom died of a heart attack.

I had a heart attack at 49.

It will be four years ago this May.

A friend of mine passed away Sat.

She was younger than me.

Still in shock I think.

The best thing we can do is take care of ourselves by taking care of our health, being pro-active as possible.

I take my medication, cut out salt/sodium, reduced my caffeine intake.

I am a non-smoker so that was not really an issue for me.

I try to eat healthier and exercise as much as possible with the RA

I know what that's like. I have family members who were lost of heart failure. That is my reason for being more heart conscious now. My blood pressure is normal to high but I'm working hard to keep it under control.

Yes, I do, especially today since it's been three years since my Dad's heart finally gave up and the doctors and my Stepmom finally gave in ... I've got high blood pressure since I was pg with DD #4 three years ago and am now on beta blockers because my bp is still too high. They're going to do a scan on April 2nd to see if they can find something. I've put myself on a diet, even though the heart doctor didn't say I was too heavy or something. I still can't get over it that both the heart doctor and my family doctor don't think I'm overweight with 204 lb. and 5' 10" ... Everyone tells me I don't look it, but I know it's there. If I was to weigh 165 lb. as it's recommended for my height I'd look like I was anorexic (I'm not kidding).
So I've been on a low sodium diet for years and I've been watching my portions lately, too, since I eat mostly healthy, but just too much of it.

I also, do the low carb, low sugar and it seems to be working to help me lose weight as well.

Exercise and take ProvexCV with a bunch of grapeseed extract.

I do think about it - and try to keep my sodium intake at a reasonable level, and of course I drink my red wine LOL

My mom works for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and two years ago my uncle had a massive heart attack. So I'm aware of the issues and how lifestyle plays a huge role in heart health.

All the time!

My paternal Grandfather died from heart failure and there was heart disease on my paternal Grandmother's side of the family as well. Both brothers and I seem to be prone to high cholesterol (maybe from my Mom's side --- where stroke was an issue) and so we all three are on statins to control cholesterol and I watch what I eat (low salt, low fat...) And I try, not very successfully, to keep walking for exercise...
