High Blood Pressure questions
Tue, 12-07-2010 - 3:53pm

I went in to see my dr today to start cymbalta (depression med) they took my bp and it was 155/90. I've never had high bp before I've always ran normal 117/70. Now granted I was a bit nervous, I had to explain why i thought i needed this med, the reason is because we lost our 11 yr old daughter to cancer 3 yrs ago tomorrow. So I though that knowing i would have to explain this got me worked up. Anyway dr gives me the med and says to check my bp's a couple time a week and get back to her. I had t run to the store so i though i would take it for the heck of it (walgreens self test thing) it was 158/91. Two hour later had to go out again so i stopped at walgreens again to take it again, this time i made sure to pull my sleve all the way up, at the dr they did it over my sweater, first time i took it i did it over my sweater. This time on bare skin it was 177/98. now im concerned. I just put a call into my dr asking her if i should still start this med today and if i need to be seen again to see what is going on. I've never had to deal with high bp's so maybe i',m just being over concerend? I would love to hear what all of you think. Thank you.

Interesting... I'm not sure what is going on with your leg.

So sorry about the Loss of Your Daughter...

I am sorry I wasn't around to respond earlier.

Haven't been on the computer too much.

I just started an anti-depressant myself recently (Celexa).

I was avoiding going on one for fear of my blood pressure being too high.

Any thing you experience out of the norm I would tell your doctor just to be on the safe side.

I have been having some issues and going through a lot of tests lately so I am trying not to stress myself out.

I lost my mom at Christmas many years ago but the Anniversary date and her birthday and Mother's Day are hard.

My heart goes out to you because the Loss of your daughter.

If you ever want to just pop in now and then to say hello feel free.

My last visit my Nurse Practitioner checked my blood pressure three times.

My family doctor who recently retired didn't seem too concerned about mine even though I am on medication for it.

I guess it was high anyways according to him possibly because of my other health issues.

Which reminds me I need my blood pressure medication.

Just ran out of my refill and I am almost out of pills.

Not too sure what's going on with your calf but I would mention it to your doctor.
