Reluctant to go on Crestor
| Tue, 09-18-2012 - 4:02pm |
Just had my bloodwork done and it was not good, but with possibly bad genes and being overweight (5'10 and 220) with ver little exercise, I was not suprised:
Total cholesterol: 254, HDL: 31, LDL: 160 TRIG: 315
Doctor wants to put me immediately on 20 mg a day of Crestor, but I am reading horror stories about it. Funny he didn't say let's try and get the weight off. I am thinking about just seeing if a 50 pound weight loss would help before commiting to drugs. However I know Crestor will take it down fast. But I am afraid of the side effects.
Hi Rhonda!
My sister was struggling with her weight.
My Mom to.
After I had my ds and then went through a separation and divorce the weight came off for me.
I lost close to a hundred lbs.
Wouldn't advise any one to lose weight that way.
Too fast but have kept it off for the most part.
My main problem was after my heart attack and the RA diagnosis.
Also dealing with DEPRESSION to...
...
I cannot handle the heat either although my joints love it.
Hang in there!

Hi Lori.
I am about 70 lbs over what I should weigh.
As a teen it was very easy to lose weight IF I needed to. Not the case anymore. I'm starting to do better with diet and exercise. Choosing my food more carefully. But right now it is still to HOT. It is 101 here today. I am really looking forward to cooler weather and rain..Stay well and enjoy your rain.

Not too bad...
It is cooler here and raining...
...
It was lovely yesterday earlier in the day.
How much weight are you trying to lose?
My old NP was quite rude about my losing weight but not me new NP who recently resigned...;(...I really liked her.
It's funny to because my old NP was doing this to my dd since she became her NP.
Not very Professional.
I try to walk as much as possible, eat healthy etc. but I do know it can be frustrating.
My sister is trying to lose. I worry though about her.
I think she is doing it because of her husband.
Sometimes I think others need to look in the mirror first.
Like my old NP and my bil...
They don't stop to think how hurt-ful they really are.
Insensitive!
I think it's good if you are doing it for yourself and bcause you want/need to.
The Fall must be here...
...lol...
...
I am cold!
Got my sweater on, socks, and my slippers.
It has just changed though recently.
Don't mind coolness as long as we have sunshine.
Do not like the dampness.
Lorie
Hang in there Rhonda!

Hi NightAngel... I'm doing pretty good. Just waiting for cool weather to come along. Struggling to lose weight though. Why's it have to be so hard and we can't take anything to help. Oh well I guess it will happen or not. Been to hot to get out and exercise. It's suppose to be 103 here on Tuesday.. where is fall?? LOL How have you been doing?
Rhonda
Hey Rhonda!
How are you?
Hi Gingerpie and HI NIGHTANGEL
I am on Crestor. I'm not happy about it's side effects either and luckily I don't think i've had many... I've read that statins cause muscle pain. Mine I chalked up to age...LOL Anyway, I read that Pychnogenol can help lower cholestrol. I did an experiment where I had my blood checked, recorded the cholestrol #'s and then took Pychnogenol before having bloodwork done again. Mind you I was still taking the Crestor too. This time my cholestrol count was WAY down. You can google Pychnogenol or ask at your health food store. Also if you are on any statin drug you should also take CoEn zyme Q10. I hope this helps,
Rhonda in CA
~hugs~
Thanks Gingerpie, btw love your name!

I know my doctor was shocked at how high my cholesterol was, back then I kept telling him I felt like my blood-pressure was "Boiling"...honestly I felt like something was just not right.
I try to eat healthy, get as much exercise as possible and take my medications.
It takes time but you can do it!
I was a non-smoker so I didn't have that hurdle.
Reducing my Caffeine intake was a little challenging at first but it has gotten easier.

I am on Crestor...
Mine (my cholesterol) was really high.
About six weeks until the day I had a heart attack.
There are other medications.
Usually you are monitored while on them.
They will want you to do other things.
Have you told your doctor about your concerns?
