I turned 40 last year, and my doctor suggested a few years back that I start taking calcium supplements along with Vitamin D.  I've only been taking half the dose she suggested because I've seen news articles that have said that too much calcium and vitamin D can affect your heart.  I was curious what vitamins other women my age are taking and at what dosage.  Thanks!

All Vitamins are not alike.  Think about absorbancy when you are looking for a good to great vitamin,  you really don't want to take an over the counter vitamin that has been sitting on the store shelf 6 months or more.  Most vitamins have less than 10%  absorbancy.  Mine has greater than 85% absorbancy, is freshly made within 48 hours of purchasing them.  They also have over 20 years of research and development behind them.  I am 57 soon to be 58 and have been taking them for 7 years.  I would not switch to any other brand. They are natural, food grade, and give me energy all day long!  I can't say enough about them!

Thanks for the feedback! My dh takes CO Q10 for his high cholesterol, he doesn't do good on traditional meds. He's also taking red rice yeast as well. He's noticed a change in his metabolism, maybe I should start taking it as well?

Hi;

I am 58 and female and yes it is very confusing as what to take. Over the years I have done a few experiments on myself with taking all kinds of stuff.. Now I dont know if it harmed me or what.. but last year my blood pressure was high so now on high bp meds.. right now I am trying the Vit.D. as doctor said to but I have heard conflicting reports about it... I also am taking apple cidar vinegar in lemon water. I do take CoQ 10 when I remember but still debating about that one as I dont know the dosage..

I was speaking with a nutrionist and doctors and healthfood gurus and always hear whatever your body depletes as it ages then that is what to take so I think CoQ10 is good .. I wouldnt take many things as I have no idea what goes on.. I would also do some juicing of whole organic veggies. they are supposed to give good vitamins and not harm but who knows?? Its all so confusing.. I think vitamins just dont do the trick as I have read they just sit in the body .. I would think wheat grass or chlorophyll was more beneficial..

I would love to get of these pills and was told to try aloe vera plant but there are so many reports on natural things so I dont know.. I am just as confused now than ever..

But yes eat healthy as possible and read labels and watch the sugar..

take care

I am in my 50s - name gave it away eh? I take CO Q10 for my weird heart beats. My cardiologist was the one to suggest it. Not much can be done about my "aneurism" it is a birth defect. The flap that normally closes when a baby is born didn't close right on mine so throughout the years I would get weird heart beats and the blood would rush out of my heart so fast I would see blackness on the edge of my vision. But hey, not life threatening at this time, and not much can be done about it ...so I don't let it get to me.

Otherwise I take a womens multi vitamin and eat healthy.
