End of life. Dying.

One of my close friends is at the end of her life. She has been struggling with a serious illness and her time appears to be drawing near. I have never really given it much thought until now that this is it. I have been taught all my life that when we die we go to heaven or hell and I just now realize what that means. I'm not here to debate what happens when people die, I just want to hear your thoughts on dying.

I am over 50 years old and have seen several members of my family die. I do have religious convictions of what happens after death that I find comforting. It is the decline that I struggle the most with. It is very difficult to watch someone start to decline knowing full well where it is headed. I don't believe you can ever prepare yourself, no matter how much you try, for the finality of death.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and hope you get to spend some meaningful time with her. Make sure you say everything you want to say and just be there for her.
