When people ask you to pray for someone, do you? How? I'm just curious how many people really put some all out effort into praying for other people.

I try to.  As for the how it depends on what the situation is.  If it is just a general request without a lot of information I tend to give a very basic -- God please watch over X and help them get through this time and be with them, you know their needs, Thy will be done.  Amen.  --   Then if it is something more specific there are prayers I have in a prayer book that I might use.  For example when my grandmother was dying there were special prayers I was reading over the course of a couple of days during her last days.    Then there are prayers in the book for illness.   So it really depends on the situation and how much I know.   Sometimes I might light a candle in church and just give a general -- For those who have asked for prayers.

I too sit down and spend a few minutes in prayer when people I know ask. I am a little picky on who I pray for however so I don't always pray for just anyone.

Lighting a candle is very interesting. I see people holding candle vigils for others and have to wonder what the story is behind lighting a candle for someone.
