Finally - rain

Sat, 09-17-2011 - 11:14am

I just went out and checked my rain gauge. It started raining yesterday evening and rained off and on through the night. Total was 1.7 inches. There is more predicted for today and it is currently overcast. I am so thankful for every drop. My heart goes out to those who have had too much rain and devastating flooding. Wish mother nature had been more equitable. We have trees dying for want of rain. I can't even fathom the cost in crops and livestock. And the wildfires have done so much distruction as well. It's been a strange, harsh

Hugs,

Melissa

Rained some yesterday...much needed. Today only drizzle. But grateful for any. Agree w/u about those w/too much & devastating flooding. Here cost is high w/hurricane damage & some w/not enough rain.
Good to see u here,

Hi Jacquie,

Yes, they rescued the puppy. It was a tiny thing, but the crack was deep and it took a lot of effort to get to the dog. It's really unsettling to realize that the ground is dry to such a depth as the crack that tiny puppy fell into. We did not get rain at my home yesterday, but more is predicted today. It is going to be a slow recovery from drought conditions and the long term prospects are not good. Our normal weather patterns are altered.

I have watched baseball at home this year. Going to the ballpark is an expense not in my current budget, and I find I'm not as tolerant of the heat, at least not the heat we've had this summer. My grandson did not play either. But the Rangers have had a good season and I've enjoyed watching them play.

I took a quilting class last fall and I think of you each time I see the little nine patch I made. Are you working on a piece?

Hugs,

There were a lot of events I passed up this Summer because of heat.

LOLOL! I had forgotten that we both love Manhattans, and I get that from bartenders too at least if they know how to mix one. Usually I have to tell them what goes in it. If I'm ever up your way again we'll have to get together.

Melissa! So good to "see" you. I think of you every time I see baseball. We have not seen any rain here in weeks. Trees are dying here too. Around here you know it's bad when the Sweet Gum trees start dying. I hope things are going well for you and we get to see you more often.

(((hugs))
