One year I was about 7_8 years old and our aunt and uncle lived about 3 blocks from our house and we were going to have dinner (noon) at their house. So my sister and I were going to walk.....actually it was only a block from school and we walked by there every day but that day was different......

We woke in the morning hearing crackling sounds (besides the smells of stuff my mom was taking. Looked outside and we had an ice storm..I mean it was really thick...

Mom said we could still walk if we bundled up and put our boots on and were very, very careful.....they were going to be behind us shortly anyway...

It was so beautiful out just cold enough for the ice to not fall off and yet warm enough so we could take our time. I am still in awe of weather..... I did fall and to this day have what I think is a bone chip in my knee that I can push around.....lol

When we got to my aunts house it was small and you opened the door and the smell and the steam from the cooking......that is something you just can't get in a big house I don't think.....And all my mom's sisters and her brother were there and it was the best day..

I can still remember my uncle (the joker in the family) saying to us .....what did you girls do that they made you walk all that way in this weather? No, uncle we WANTED to walk......everyone laughed......they were looking for us anyway.....so we were protected from bother ends of our little trip........
