I have a scratchy sore throat and I don't think I really need to go to the doctor (no fever) and I have always tried gargling with salt water but wondered if there was anything else that might help.

Chances are at this time of year it is an allergy thing. Sometimes a saline mist in the nose a couple times a day helps that throat. Sometimes an OTC allergy pill can help. I wear a C-Pap at night and if I go without water in it my throat can be irritated......plus I suppose I have that air blowing from my nose and out my mouth (hard keeping my mouth shut even when I sleep I guess.....LOL

I agree with Janet, I have been experiencing a scratchy throat and I think it is from allergies. I gargle with salt water and that seems to help.

Hi, if you are still having this problem my doctor told me when I had a scatchyness to my throat to do the honey, lemon and hot tea and to get the lozegers of honey and lemon. Mine was due to allergies that almost to my voice completely away for 3 1/2 months. This helped the  me alot.
