Where do you find volunteer jobs?

I have been thinking about it and decided that since I seem to have way too much time on my hands that I would volunteer somewhere but I don't know how to go about finding volunteer positions. Does anyone know how to do that?

What do you like to do? Local schools need help in the classroom, animal shelters, hospitals, women's shelters, food banks, local community organizations , churches could be a start. I am in the process of turning my dog into a therapy dog, where I will take him into the hospital and brighten the days of ill people. :)

Hi, Jayne, welcome to our little Friendship Garden.  Those of us who have been around a while tend to call ourselves "the ladybugs"...feel free to consider yourself one of us!

'Freshstartnow' has given you some mighty good suggestions about finding places to volunteer.  Another couple of sources of information might be your local Chamber of Commerce or Library.

Have you considered taking classes in something that you have always wanted to try your hand at?!  Many local school systems offer classes that last from 4 to 8 weeks in water exercises, yoga, acting, piano, painting, pottery, and many other kinds of activities.

Yes, I agree with Freshstartnow and KT. I think if you ask around your community you will quickly find out that volunteers are desparately needed in a lot of areas. Good luck! And welcome to our Ladybug Garden!
