I really am thinking of getting my first tatoo but of course my mother is insistant that it is going to be discovered that the ink in tatoos causes cancer (or some other disease). I know you are all going to tell me that of course mothers say things like that (I am in my late twenties by the way) but could there be some truth in it?

I know that most young people get tattoos these days but i dont care for them. But my daughter got one down her shoulder that does not look bad for a tattoo. She went to a professional shop and it took them sefveral visits to get it done. I was really surprised at how much it cost her but glad to see that it turned out nice and she had no health problems form it. She is really proud of it and is now lifting some weights to try to tone up to show it off so i am glad something has enlcouraged her to work out.

Your mother may be right! It really just depends on where you get it done and who does it. Make sure you are getting your tattoo done by a professional who abides by state regulations. My neice got hers done by a boyfriend's uncle in his basement and it turned out horrible. She got an infection and now has a bluish blob on her neck that only somewhat resembles the moon and stars she had hoped for. She is saving up her money to go have it done over by a professional.
