And I don't necessarily mean signing or dancing. Are you artistic or creative or anything like that? I keep trying to figure out what my talent is and I am beginning to think I just simply don't have any.

Very, very few people are born with talent - more often than not, people "acquire" a talent via years and years of learning/practice.

What do you enjoy doing?  There is not reason why you cannot learn something you like at any age.

Maybe you are right. I have tried so many things like knitting, quilting, painting, piano and so many others and I lose interest or just can't get into it. I am currently learning to cook (and I am not a kid anymore) and I hope that I stay interested in it. I know it sounds silly but my self esteem is suffering because I feel like I can't do anything.

In order to learn to cook well, you need to love to eat first!  ;-)  Seriously, the process is becoming talented entails some hard work  and it often the end result that motivates us.  For example, if you enjoy dressing well, the thought of having a tailor-made, inexpensive dress will help you navigate all the frustration when you learn to sew.  Likewise, if you don't care about food, it is kind if difficult to learn to cook.

Don't let you self-esteem tied to "hobbies".  Hobbies are for fun!

You know, having a talent for one specific thing does not define who you are. You could be right - maybe there isn't anything that will hold your interest. And this being spoken by a person who doesn't have much talent for anything. I do like to paint ceramics, but I've never gotten into creating the ceramics. I collect various things, such as angels and whatnot and I consider that as my hobby. Just plain ol' collecting. How talented do you have to be to do that? Wink You could always volunteer to do something - that gives an awful lot of personal satisfaction. It just makes you feel good. I'm anxious to read more of your posts! (See? You are talented in posting messages to a message board!) "See" you again soon, I hope!

I do have a talent for color and I love textiles. I used to visit a needlework store so often that customers would come in an ask for me. Of course I loved stitching and I would talk about stitching and color with anyone who came around so they thought I was part of the staff!! I think most of us are talented in one way or another, it is just that some of us go out of our way to develop it. I feel like when I don't do my stitching that I am going to unravel! There a millions of people who do it better than me but that is no matter. I simply enjoy this and it is meditative for me.

I don't have a talent per se but I don't think that means I am talentless. I can't draw, paint, sew or anything else like that but I am honest, trustworthy and dependable. I think those things make me a much better person than being able to create a blue ribbon quilt.

I think we ALL do.
Some might be hidden or un-discovered or even unique to us...;)...

Find out, you may born with some kind of talent. However, if you do not put in effort to continue and focusing your time and energy to nurture talents, chances of you becoming a successful in that particular field is slim.
