With a new year upon us I thought it might be interesting to reflect on changes. How much have you changed over the years? Are you the person you thought you'd always be or have you completely changed your mind on some things? What is one of the biggest changes you've made in your life (an opinion or view) that you never dreamed you would change but did?

I am not the same person I was years ago. Life experience and children have changed me far beyond anything I would have ever dreamed for myself. I have gone from a totally liberal perspective to an extremely conservative perspective on most everything. I've learned that liberality is often driven by wrecklessness, irresponsibility, and lack of discipline or self-discipline.

I would have never in a million years believed I would turn out to be conservative.

I've definitely changed over the years. I've become more flexible in my ways, not being so rigid in my reactions and/or perceptions. I used to totally freak if plans fell through; now I've learned to just take a deep breath, review the situation and find a way to move forward. It's way less stressful, on me and everyone else around me! LOL

What a great question!

I've changed alot over the course of my life.

Like others here I am much more conservative than I was when I was younger. (I'm 53 now.) Things I didn't give two thoughts to 25 years ago I now find I am 180 degrees different about. What's funny is I'm ALOT less judgemental than I used to be! Ha! Get that!

I'm also much more patient (in some ways) and let a lot more roll off my back than I used to, like not giving a whip about what others think of me, or whether someone did what I "advised" them to do. :) (Trust me that used to keep me awake at night.)

I've changed professionally, for the better, as well. I always wanted the next rung of the ladder, the promotion, the recognition, the award. Now I'm very content with 'quiet praise' and a steady gig.

I've also gone deeper into my Christian faith as I've matured. I used to say I was a Christian and hadn't darkened a church doorway or cracked the Bible open but at Christmas. Now I attend worship weekly, tithe, and spend a lot more time in prayer.

I'm also happy to say I haven't changed in my view and acceptance of others who are different than me. I had a rare and wonderful upbringing by parents who encouraged and invited people of different colors, sexual orientation, and nationality into our lives. I have friends across the spectrum: black, gay, churched and un-churched, Republican, Democrat, liberal, conservative, young, middle aged, and old. I don't always understand where everyone is coming from but I am thrilled to get a glimpse via friendship.
