I'm going to add my 2 cents here about the message boards. (Let's hope I don't fall off the soapbox!) I do not understand why iVillage cannot go back to a more simple time. When we had the old board format (of a few years ago), we could hardly keep up as cls. Now hardly anyone is interested in our boards and frankly, I've pretty much lost interest in mine. I've been here for 14 years - it has become a way of life. And I miss my boardies. I don't think the problems going on now with our message boards are going to be solved any time soon. If at all. iVillage IS the message boards. The boards came first and then the people came in droves. There have been way too many changes over the years - most have not "panned out." We need a more simple format. Facebook draws in boat loads of people and we could do the same. There's no friends list - We were strangers who came and together we formed a bond that all the Facebooks in the world cannot do. I'm weary of wondering when things will be "fixed" and of wondering if we'll have message boards at all one day.

Oh how I yearn for the "good ole days" too!  The way it was in the beginning or even after the first 'upgrade' was so much easier to navigate.  We had great boards that had lots of regulars in attendance.  I can remember when it was nothing to see over 100 posts a day!  We had ivillage-email. We had group chats. Now many of the gals from one of my boards are on a private FaceBook site and while I visit there because I do not want to lose touch with them I don't like FaceBook and the way it does things!

I miss the times that we CLs met at our various team boards to discuss our board problems or help one another with problems!

I miss the "old" iVillage.  But even tho I am willing to stick around, it is getting difficult to keep trying to keep a dying board alive!

I didn't discover Ivillage until about a year ago and I love this. Whatever it used to be to some of you still is to the rest of us.

Geri,

I agree with you and I have been here over 16 years. We don't celebrate each other anymore. I have made close friends around here that I now see on Facebook but some that are lost forever. I wonder what is happening with their lives and I miss them. I used to get about 100 messages a day on the several diabetes boards that were here. Now there in one and I get about 1 mesage a month. Sad since so many people are diagnosed diabetic and they need support.

I don't know what the answer is either. Are we just hanging on to a dead horse? Has the social media craze passed us by? Just wondering.

Meanwhile how are you doing?

Since you aaked... Laughing I had a cancer scare not long ago. My neck had been hurting for several days when I decided to bring it up to my doctor. That was the start of x-rays, 2 CTs, an ultrasound and a trip to a specialist. The CTs showed a jelly bean size tumor/growth/whatever on my thyroid. The specialist did a biopsy and within 2 days he called with the results. No cancer! He suggested that we keep an eye on it in the future in case it began to get any larger. I also have RA and Lupus, for which I'll see a rheumatologist on the 15th of this month. My doctor has prescribed Hydrocodone for the pain. (Not sure I spelled that right.) My hubby has taken over the care of my mother pretty much because I get so very tired. I'll see what the specialist has to say and then I'll post on my board. (Your Well-Being Ages 60 Plus.) And thank you for asking. Laughing
