I've got different passwords for different types of accounts, and change them on a regular basis. The shortest password is 8 letters+numbers long, the longest 18. I've got 8 passwords going on right now, which explains why I often forget which is which. I'd rather forget a password and have to reset it than have accounts hacked - not only email, but for anything online, especially the ones that have account details on it such as credit card numbers.Unfortunately a lot of people think that too much of a hassle to change one's password, or that people are exaggerating the dangers or thinking that it only happens to other people.
Here's another article on choosing passwords.
Great article Poppy!
I'm telling you what, since FB came along I'm not sure we're as safe as we used to be. lol I check my daughters' accounts constantly to make sure they haven't posted something unknowingly with TMI and I am constantly telling them to remove things their friends have posted that could lead someone right to our front door. I am completely stunned that level of highly personal information that people don't realize they are giving out for all the world to see.
