Of all the technological advances, which ones have been most helpful to you?

Which ones do you not care for?

How have you made technology work for you/to make your life easier or richer or...?

I agree with you on all of the above, Amy. The computer and internet are certainly changing the way we work and play right now.

I look around and think what if we didn't have... electricity, running water, refrigerators, computers, the internet, phones...

The ones that I like are the mp3, cell phone for only emergency calls, cd players, the handheld tv, computer.

These are useful and helpful for me.

The ones I do not care for...not sure yet Poppy.

I'm not a huge fan of technology. I'm still stuck in the 20th century. I do enjoy my computer, DVD player, microwave, glad to be able to listen to music and watch TV shows and movies online. But I don't own a cell phone or an iPod. Technology has made my life a lot easier, of course. But I'm not someone who needs to run out and buy all the new gadgets.

Carol, hating cellphones and driving doesn't necessarily mean that you hate the technology - it just means that you prefer someone else to drive, and that you don't like talking over the cellphone (or having a cellphone.) Or do you hate cars and phones in general? I know about the iPod still in its box (which would probably fetch a lot of money one day LOL!), but I think you are the type of person who chooses technology that works for you and shrugs at those that you don't have a need for. Am I right?

I love the computer, the internet and the WWW. Without these, we wouldn't be talking to each other!

You have a handheld TV? How cool, Sweetrose!

Nancy, I think that it's good that you only adopt technology that is useful for you instead of giving gadgets power over you because you absolutely have to have the latest ones (even if you can't find a use for it.)

Thanks...Yes Poppy on my handheld tv. Neat thing. Only thing is the batteries. I use rechargeables. It only catches regular and local channels.

When do you watch TV with the handheld. Sweetrose? I'd always wanted a small TV (not a handheld, but something small enough for me to put on my desk as I like having the background noise), but now I have two TV sets and one of them is in the room that I work in. It turns out that I've changed, and that I now prefer working without TV background noise...

I also use rechargeable batteries now! It doesn't make sense not to use them.
