As most of you know by now, Whitney Houston died this past weekend. She was THE performer when I was younger and I loved her voice. I think my all time favorite of hers was the remake of Dolly Parton's I will Always Love You. It is such a shame her life ended like this.

Were you a fan? What was your favorite song of hers?

I wasn't a "fan", per se, but her Star Spangled Banner was epic!

What's amazing is at that time, everybody was slamming her for lipsyncing it.

Now everybody talks about how great it was.

Yeah-did you see where they were flying flags at half staff for her? http://movies.yahoo.com/news/nj-flags-fly-half-staff-whitney-houston-221734165.html

I'm not sure how I feel about that. One of my son's friends served in the military and got killed in Iraq and the flags weren't flown at half staff for him. It's uh, interesting. I wonder how everyone else feels about it?

I know... and now they are going after her doctors, a la Michael Jackson, but do you ever hear of doctor's being charged with criminal acts when the mis-prescribe or over-prescribe to "regular folks"

We had a doctor here (the one who actually got DH hooked on Ambien) who was known as a doctor-feel-good for elderly patients and, from what I hear, finally lost his license (at retirement age)... Everyone, inlcuding other doctors, knew about this; no-one ever told US, of course, but that man was only punished by having his license revoked upon retirement. Doesn't sound like equal treatment to me!

You know Carol, In the last few years I know several people IRL who got in trouble with prescription drugs (over prescribed). If it hadn't been for the help of family members and friends, those people could have been found in bathtubs too. It seems to be a real problem that either is getting worse or maybe we are just all hearing about it more.

Not one physician involved in the cases of those people have been charged with anything.

I think that I've only heard of one "regular" doctor being charged with it and losing his license.
