HI Everyone,

It's been a while since we have heard from you. What is new in your life?

Many of you know I had two new grandchildren this summer so this grandma has been very busy helping out with babies. Also, I  recently completed my first 5K and 10K! The next big thing that I am working toward on my bucket list is a half-marathon. ;-)

I'd love to hear what is happening in your world.

Well it is all the "good things" of course.  Caffeine, chocolate, mint, citrus of any kind, spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, tomatos, vinegar, fatty foods, acid foods, just about anything you want to eat.  Then they said and you need to lose more weight, yes, thank you.  My though was how do we make my cardboard taste good at this rate?  So I am trying to learn which herbal tea I can drink and there is no real diffinition for what is an herbal tea, so this is a real challenge.  I would love to have a piece of chocolate.

So this diet is very restrictive and worse yet is when I go off of it, my voice goes with it.  So I really have no choice.  My husband is beginning to learn this as well.  Not fun in any setting, but I can live with it.

Not much and that is why I am losing weight....so is DH. He doesn't like my diet very much. But I am cooking a lot of plain old bland comfort food, just the stuff you grew up on. The other day my DH said he was going to make a bowl of chili and I said you do that and I'm leaving home. Had to say that while I still had the voice to tell him. Actually it is quite scary to be going through this. No joking aside. Cause when he got on the roof and started slipping and I couldn't tell him where the ladder was behind him, it occurred to me that I also couldn't call 911 for help because they couldn't hear me. I wondered just how I was going to handle this if I couldn't get him off the roof without breaking something. These are things you just never think about until you start to go through something like this. I need to have a long chat with my doctor to see what she recommends I do, because this isn't going to get any better. As they say getting older isn't for the faint of heart, but sometimes you just don't know what is on the menu! Harriette

Hi Karla,

I am back from my wonderful vacation which was a cruise to the Holy Lands. How interesting. I had a great time. I was so glad to go on vacation. My husband had a tenant who turned out of the be a hoarder and who has almost destroyed his house. So I have been coping with getting rid of the tenant and cleaning up his mess. We have had to take the house down to the studs and in some cases even remove the sub-floring. It has taken a huge amount of time but the repairing and remoding of the house is almost finished and it looks so nice.

I am doing well physicially and so is my precious black and white friend. We both got hoorays from our doctors this week. Abby has almost gained back the weight that she lost 4 years ago when she became so ill. I promise to be around more often now that my life is settling down again.
