difficulty with signing in
Sun, 01-13-2013 - 2:54pm

It has been very difficult at times trying to sign in, much of the time my user id and pw is not recognize. This time I could get in, so how is everyone doing this New Year? I am now obsess with paying my 6 yr car loan off in two years, it has a balance of 19,000. I just added a twice a week cleaning job afternoons once I am finished teaching for the day. It is 2 1/2 on Thurs. and Fridays's, the pay is decent and equals actually one car payment per month. So the extra 300, will go on the principal of car monthly for the next 4 months which should take the balance down considerably. The extra 20.00 will go on the 2nd mortgage (I had to take 4000.00) out because I did not have a down payment when I bought the house. So I will put extra on the principal to get that paid off, once paid off, the pmi insurance goes away, thank goodness. I wanted to get rid of the car payment and this second mortgage within 2 yrs. Leaving the mortgage with the plan to pay off in 12 years instead of 30. I have decided that I don't want to work until I am 68 and would like to retire at 62 which if car/mortgages are paid off, this leaves only the student loan debt. I don't have credit cards, and have a savings.

So what are your financial goals for the year? Short term/long term? Drop by , pull up a comfy chair and let's make this a great year on the board!Hope to see you here and any one lurking around please pop in and say hello:)

Have a fanastic week!

I saw on one of the boards where a moderator said that they new there was a problem with logging in and that if you log in, then wait for a few minutes you can watch your browser go through the process. Once your name appears in the top corner, you'll be able to post. So I tried it and it is working for me.

At this point in my life I am basically debt free (all but mortgage and have 10 years left on it) but I don't really have anything. I want a car and some other material things like new appliances and furniture, but am too afraid to take a chance and spend. I am saving at least 10% of my earnings and hoping that if we go through another recession (which I have heard many people predict) that my employer is able to make it through again. I know I can't live in fear but I nearly lost my job and home a few years back and I don't want to go through it again.

Good for you to almost debt free! Do you have extra on your principal? Also saving 10% is great:) I am not sure what you are looking for in appliances but sometimes you can get a really good deal if you buy like the stove, fridge and dishwasher. But I am with you.....on spending I rather save the money and pay in cash. That is what I did with the new washer, I went to a local shop that had been in business for years, I put a deposit on a washer, paid it off within a month and delivery and removal of old was free as well as hook up. Furniture check your local thrift and consignment shops, yard sales, make a list of what you looking for but for me there are some things I will not buy use a sofa, mattress and rugs. Thanks for sharing! Have a great week!

Hi Grace,

Great to see you. It sounds like you have started your year off great with a good plan. My husband and I also have a financial plan for the year which includes saving a certain percentage of pay. The recent recession hit many of our friends hard and we now realize just how important it is to save!

And I did want to let you know that we are aware that there have been some log in issues and the tech teams are working on a solution. Like the member above stated, there is a delay from the time you log in until you are able to post. If you wait a few minutes until you see your name appear at the top left hand corner of the board, you should then be able to successfully post.

Let me know if you continue to have problems,
