Who taught you about  money, savings, when you were growing up etc?

Do you talk to your child/ren about money?

Do you save , if so is there a % you put away, do you plan for retirement?

Do you have a will? Do you have joint acct if you have a partner or separate acct?

Do you have a spending plan ? (I work with client's and do not use the term budget as I feel it is tight and not flexable)

Your challenge for the week....Track your spending, every penny you spend, keep a small notebook or use post its,

then review all the amounts and see if there are any surprises...let me know how it is going

Who taught you about  money, savings, when you were growing up etc?

Do you talk to your child/ren about money? === My parents --- we had to earn our allowance and we were NEVER rewarded for doing what we were obliged to do! Also, when a Senior in high school, the algerbra teacher took it on himslef to teach us all how to manage a bank/checking account!

Do you save , if so is there a % you put away, do you plan for retirement? === already retired but when wroking we saved teh maximum allowed for the 401K...

Do you have a will? Do you have joint acct if you have a partner or separate acct?   === we both have wills and medical powers of attorney. Our accounts are joint, though...

Do you have a spending plan ? (I work with client's and do not use the term budget as I feel it is tight and not flexable) === not really. I just pinch pennies wherever possible (DH likes to shop and I cna't stop him! LOL, so a spending plan really is doomed from the get-go). Since I keep teh books adn pay teh bills, I pretty much know where we are each month

Your challenge for the week....Track your spending, every penny you spend, keep a small notebook or use post its, then review all the amounts and see if there are any surprises...let me know how it is going. Oh dear --- starting when? And just me or both of us?

Glad to hear the algebra teacher taught the students to manage a checking acct. I think personal finance should be started in the 8th grade and continue throughout the high school years. So many college kids, have no clue on money issue, but little do they know at even this age of 8 or 20 yrs, if they saved 10.00 consistenly they would have a nice little nest egg.

Thanks! for posting:smileyhappy:
