Do you like onions? Does your family? If not, what do you do for recipes that call for them?

Yes, I like Vidalia sweet onions and red onions. Sauteed Vidalias are totally yummy with burgers and steaks. We cook with them in chicken and pork dishes to add extra flavoring. I like red onions in salads.

My kids don't really like them, although they usually don't notice if they are cut in small bits and cooked in something. My DD1 would make a good surgeon. She can find and pick out any unwanted item in a dish, no matter how small it is. LOL

I cook with onions ALL the time. It's a great way to season a dish which is otherwise bland, IMO. Not really fond of raw onions though --- maybe a few spring onions in a salad but otherwise, I take onions out of salads and off of hamburgers and...

I never would have thought to add onion to grilled cheese.

The cookbook I got that idea from is "Vegetarian Comfort Food" by Jennifer Warren.
