Do any of you have teens that work? Do you allow your teens to spend their money on anything they want? Do you feel you have any input since it is their money and they worked for it?

I no longer have a teen.....
So how did you get your teen to save? Did you make her or encourage her in some way? The reason I ask is that my daughter (17) is a waitress and has been for some time now. She makes decent tips and at first I didn't say much when she was spending every nickel she made. As long as she was paying her phone bill and car insurance I was fine with it. But then the spending sprees continued so I started making her fork over part of her earnings and I put them in a savings account for her. While her savings account is growing, if *I* weren't collecting it for her, she wouldn't save. I don't know how to encourage her to do this on her own.
