Do you look old for your age?

Do you feel like you look older than your age? It might be a sign of an unhealthy heart according to this Health Day News article. "Looking old for your age is a good marker for poor cardiovascular health," said study lead author Dr. Anne Tybjaerg-Hansen, a professor of clinical biochemistry at the University of Copenhagen. She presented the findings Tuesday in Los Angeles at the annual meeting of the American Heart Association (AHA).

According to Tybjaerg-Hansen, many doctors explicitly or unconsciously take into account how old patients look for their age when assessing their health. The idea behind this is that a prematurely aged person must be less healthy than someone who has retained the bloom of youth into middle or old age" MORE

What do you think? Do you or someone you know look old for her age? How is your/her health?

Hmmm, that's a tough question! I think I look my age, but I've been looking at this face for 53 years, so that might color my judgement a bit! LOL And as for the graying hair part of the article, I started going gray in my teens; up until my 40s, everyone thought I frosted my hair. Laughing

My sister is 2 years younger, but most people think she's the oldest when they see us together. I think it's because she's always been a sun-worshipper, tanning since we were teens, where I've always been the pale one. Plus, her job is one where she's always exposed to the outdoor elements, while I work inside an office. As far as fitness, she's probably the more fit of us both, since she tends to get quite a bit of physical exercise on the job.

Good question, and I'm really not sure!  It is hard to answer about yourself since you are so used to seeing yourself!  I do think that my grey hair ages me, but I've had it since my early 20's.  I color my hair every 6 weeks because of it!  I do think this is true for others, though. It is amazing to compare two people of the same age, one who is healthy and one who isn't.  I that leading an unhealthy life can really make you look older than you are.

I often ask myself while doing my makeup - do I really look my age? I have seen my laugh lines and lines in between my eyes for about a year now. They were there before, but now they are there when Im not smiling and it always looks like Im frowning. Im 32 years old and I have been told a few times recently that I look like Im in my early 20s or at the oldest 25. Makes me feel great! But when I look in the mirror everyday, I see lines and dull skin - I dont tan anymore and when I had it was for 2 months last year. Im terrified of looking older and my family on my mothers side have always had WONDERFUL skin. My mom is 60 and my aunt is 60 soon - they both just now started aging! <3 Im not sure about the health behind all of it - but I have been trying to do better with my eating and exercising, as my body is feeling like Im 80 LoL

My husband says I don't look my age but he is biased.

I too started going grey in my teens but stopped coloring my hair about 10 years ago. Sometimes when we are out with our youngest, 9 yr old, she is asked if we are her grandparents. Doesn't bother me as we have 2 grandchildren older than her. But it does make me laugh, as I am the age of lots of other grandparents, but not many parents of 9 yr olds.

I just don't feel my age, I go zip lining, snorkeling and hiking. I don't wear make up anymore, unless my oldest makes me when we go out to dinner sometimes, but then it is only some cover up and mascara. I won't sit still long enough for her to do an in depth job on me lol
