One day we have a snow/freezing rain/sleet/ice storm and the next it's 50 degrees outside.

We don't know what to wear here.

lol Karen, well you know we are practically neighbors so I don't need to tell you how odd it's been here. We had a tornado touch down in our town last week then 24 hours later had to deal with snow and ice. It's just been totally crazy!

I wore my boots for the first time Saturday, in case the parking lots were icy, or slick. They weren't. I could have gotten by without them. I live in the midwest for goodness sake and it is unreal to not have needed my books by the end of January!!!

Last week when they were predicting 3-8 inches, dh went and bought a shiny new snow blower. Ours had started making a noise the last time he used it and when he checked it had a broken thing. Since it was over 30 years old the part was no longer available. We did not get that much snow and so he didn't need the shiny new snow blower...

lol Cheryl, my husband has a pile of firewood in the backyard to beat all piles of firewood, neatly tucked under a special shelter he built to keep it dry. The first predictions this summer were of "record breaking winter storms" for the winter but we've barely had days cold enough to light the woodstove.

Wonder if your husband will get to use his new snow blower this year. lol

Ugg Karen-that stomach bug has just hit here. It's not at my house yet but it is in my sister's house so I know that means it'll be here soon enough. We are just trying to keep London well for a while. She's already had pneumonia and a couple of ear infections already.

We now have gas logs in our fireplace and have for several years. My dh worked a couple of hours away and was gone Monday through Friday for several years. He would drive up Monday morning, work all day and stay until Friday, when after he got off Friday would drive home. He wasn't up to splitting wood, building a fire etc, and our wood went bad. So a few years ago we just installed gas logs. Problem with them is if the power is off, it doesn't put out the heat of a wood fire. Our power was out for a week in February a few years ago, and you had to all but sit IN the fireplace to feel the warmth. It was better than nothing, but....
