I watched the Inauguration but can't feel the positive

I watched the Presidential Inauguration and to go by appearance everything looked so happy and pleasant and positive. Michelle's dress at the Inauguration ball was gorgeous (though I'm not sure I like her bangs). I kept trying to remind myself it's a new start and everything is looking up and the country is back on it's feet. But I can't make myself believe it. I'm not a hater of President Obama, I just don't feel confident about him. Anyone else?
Honestly, I don't see where the country is back on it's feet at all; at least from my perspective. We still have massive unemployment in my area and people are struggling to make ends meet. But, I also don't think the President can work miracles; we've been on a downward spiral for a while now and there is no magical recovery. We've still got a long road ahead of us.
Interesting perspective but consider that our economic crisis was caused by both Republicans and Democrats. Remember, it was the Clinton policies that caused the housing crisis (Clinton allowed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to grow ridiculously large and uncontrolled). And Ronald Reagan was a Republican President who turned our country around and helped get it on track back in the 80's.
Republican or Democrat President-I don't care. Just so that someone does something to ensure we have a future. I'm not really seeing much out of this President when it comes to that.
