This new 'update' bites! I've tried a few times to post this, but no luck.
Anyway - my foot problem, great pain, swelling, etc. is gout. It hurts.

Uric acid crystals build up in the joints, usually starting in the feet. Only about 1/4 to 1/3 of it is from food, the rest is made in our bodies. Mine seems to be genetic, but agrivated by chronic dehydration. If you don't get enough water, you can't flush out the excess. I've started to keep a pitcher of water on the counter and am trying to drink it throughout the day, but so far I'm not doing that well at it.

I'm on prescription anti-inflamatories and vicodin, but have to be careful of them, since they react with my blood thinners. I've had to go for extra blood tests to check my levels. So far, with some minor adjustments, all is well. I hope to be off of them, soon, since they make me so darn sleepy. Every time I sit down, I nod off. Not good, and I haven't taken a vicodin since Thursday because they really wipe me out. Ah, genetics. Such fun!

Wow! Hi Red! Haven't seen you in ages!
I'm hoping the docs can come up with some meds that will help. My neighbor has gout really bad, and gave me a print out of what he takes, so I can show it to my doc. He used to

Frank takes colchicin (sp?) during flareups and takes indocin daily. He has hydrocodone if needed. Vicodin doesn't agree well with him. He's got a really sensitive stomach.
He just had shoulder surgery a couple weeks ago---real fun.....NOT. He had a bunch of detritus, chips and stuff in there they went in and cleaned up. He's about 80% now. Has been taking Oxycodone 5mg. He's so sensitive to the stomach, he could only take one at a time vs the 2-3 they said he could take. So he was in a lot of pain which = crabby/needy.
I'm just plugging along....another year older. But not deeper in debt, thankfully. No major health problems, nothing new. Just me. Have one new granddaughter since January. She is a fat, squeezable go-getter.
Not much else to tell. So better get back to work here.
