OK, I know it's not the usual exciting thing, not a cruise or spa vacation, but I'm still so darned excited!

This past Sun. we ordered my new stove!! Woohoo! Doing the happy dance! It's replacing my 40 yr old (dh keeps saying 39 yrs but still...........) harvest gold, double oven, Kenmore. On the old one, the clock has been at 12:00 for about 15 yrs. He couldn't get the parts to repair it anymore. The smaller top oven quit about 10 yrs ago, so to bake or roast anything, I've had to use the huge, oversized bottom oven. The burner pans are so stained they can't be cleaned anymore and the knobs are held together with duct tape, even the ones that have been replaced. The stove itself is filthy because of stains

Hi Jan

That is great news!! I think getting a new stove would be really exciting. Sounds like it was way past time. New pans too?? Ok now I am jealous. I don't love to cook but we eat mostly at home anymore.

ROFL-I am so jealous! The clock on my stove has been at 00.00 for about 5 years now, one of the burners doesn't work and the oven door won't stay open.

I would LOVE to have a new stove!!! Is your new one gas or electric?

I'm in the Chicago area, where natural gas is a whole lot cheaper than electricity, so it's a gas stove. It's my 'dream', a KitchenAid double oven, 5 burner, self-cleaning, stainless steel beauty. I love a double oven because I don't make huge meals very often. A smaller oven works well for just the two of us, baking smaller things. A whole chicken and a couple of sweet potaotes will fit in nicely, without needing a huge oven. When I need a big oven, it'll be there. The hard part is waiting, since it's a special order and will
