Has anyone started planning for their retirement yet? I know it is ideal to start planning at your first job but I didn't and now I realize I need to come up with something as I am not getting any younger. I am not married so I am completely reliant upon my self. I am just curious what everyone else is doing towards retirement.

I have never thought about retirement, as a single parent, I always figured I would simply work till I was dead! LOL Now that I have remarried, I realize that the idea of retirement just isn't me, and I will probably always work - I can't imagine anything else.

Fortunately I married a man who does think about retirement, and has prepared for it!

When I was a single parent, no not at all. As I am getting older, and married, I am thinking about it more and more. My DH is bound determined to be retired by 50, but I definitely do not see that happening unless he finds a winning lottery ticket up his sleeve. We are definitely starting to concentrate more on it in the next few years, that and having the oldest going off to college makes you think about it more and more I think.

I wonder if anyone ever successfully plans for retirement. What seemed like it woulr be 'good' at the time, is not working out so with my husband. I blame myself... If I knew then what I know now... Good luck with those preparations.
