The sense of urgency is scary

My doc isn't letting the grass grow under her feet! Today was my thyroid ultrasound and she should have the results later today or tomorrow morning. Her nurse called a few minutes ago and they scheduled an appointment for me on Thurs. morning for a consultation with a surgeon. It's going so fast. Is it because they don't want to waste time or is it so bad they need to get going on it right away? It sure is scary.

It's all out of my hands. Now to wait and see.

My doc got the ultrasound results, and there are nodules on both sides of my thyroid, so they need to be biopsied along with the lymph node. The blood tests show no elevated white cell count, so no sign of infection. Darn, I was hoping that it was a hidden infection.

I know the doc is super, hyper vigilant, and is a fanatic for getting routine tests done in a timely manner, so her pushing these other tests isn't that much of a surprise. She had her nurse calling around to all the surgeons in the group, finding who had the earliest opening, and booked me into it.

I know that the sooner we find the problem, the sooner we can work on getting it fixed. Logically I know all that, but emotionally it's hard. I'm trying to stay positive and I know I have a lot of people pulling for me, both IRL and online, and I really appreciate it.

Hang in there Jan the sense of urgency could just be because they they don't want to waste time. I am sure your Dr would let you know if it was something that is really bad. Keep us posted my friend.

There could be reasons, other than 'cancer' that they just want to deal with it.
