Woa! Is anyone following the wreck of the cruise ship? I can't stop watching and reading about it! I've been on several cruises and I can't begin to imagine what if..YIKES! Have you ever been on a cruise? Did you even think about what you'd do if the ship wrecked?

Hi Cheryl,
I've been on a few and I know that before we ever left port there were lifeboat and safety drills. We were all fully aware of where to go, how to get there, and what to do once we got there. I can only assume the crew knew what to do should the worst happen.
It's a miracle more people didn't die in all that turmoil.

I HAVE been on five cruises to date --- two river cruises (the one on the Nile actually did hit a sand bar and was stuck there until someone could pull them off --- apparently not uncommon in the winter when the water is low)

lol I have been on 5 cruises too and the first was a Caribbean Cruise. The ship left port on a bright sunny day and of course we had the lifeboat and safety drills before we left. Several hours later we entered into the wake of Hurricane Mitch and it was not a pleasant experience. By dinner time the ship was rocking back and forth in 50 ft seas. They closed off the outter decks and stairways and we barely made it to our room holding onto the safety rails in halls trying to keep from being banged up as we were tossed about. We went to bed for the evening at 6pm sick as dogs with our lifejackets by us. It was so rough they were giving out seasick pills at the sick bay for all passengers who needed them. lol
We woke up the very next morning to sunny skies and a great breeze blowing and had a great rest of the cruise.
I can't begin to imagine trying to get off the boat during that kind of madness.

They didn't have the drill/info yet. They were scheduled for the next day. I guess they just pray that all is well till then? I think that should be immediately upon arrival before ever leaving dock!
Wow-I read somewhere they had already stopped at a couple port-of-calls. Wonder why they wouldn't have had the drills first??!

I've been on a cruise and I honestly don't think its as safe as people think it is. Our friends are going on a cruise this year and wanted us to go with them. I really wanted to, but I can't do it. After our experience and with what I've seen on the news... I just don't feel good about it. Just a gut feeling.
Gotta do it. Gonna Do It in 2012!
