As if I didn't already have enough health problems, I had to have a Medicare Health Physical this year. Lordy Lordy all the tests and new diagnosises that I have! I now have diabetic neuropathy in feet, bunion which is causing me to dislocate one of toes, diverticulosis, hiatal hernia and possibly Barrett's esophaghitis to name a few! I am hoping that I don't have to go through this again. But of course preventative care is a good thing but this is tooooo much!

No, none here. I've been all over to different specialists over the past 2 months, with each trying to figure out what's going on with my health. First, I was thought to have Lupus. That turned out to be false. (Thank goodness!) Then there seemed to be a problem with 1 or 2 of my internal organs, so I saw a cancer doc. All of my internal organs are very healthy, with no sign of cancer anywhere. However, I do have serious RA and Gout. I had a cortisone shot in my left knee last week and it hurt horribly! (No more pain there now, though) Next time, my doc wants to try giving me one in my right hip. Oh, joy! I'm sick of doctors, blood tests and ultrasounds. I have a 2 month reprieve now, though, before I have to see another doctor.

I've had spinal stenosis for years and doctors have told me that can contribute to pain in other parts of my body. Time to see a specialist again for that, too. But I'm going to wait a while. This bird needs to be free for a while.

So sorry that your going through so much, too, MF. You will certainly be in my prayers!

Did Medicare require you to have a physical? (I ask because you said you "had to") I'm not 65 yet so I don't know the current rules but I remember in the past (well before the ACA) Medicare didn't pay for physicals. There had to be a diagnosis of something wrong, no preventative care (I was a medical coder-biller). Most people over 65 do have something that garners a Dx so it usually worked out though.

Did the doctor find some things wrong with you that you were not aware of? It sounds like you knew that you had those various ailments....but I guess hearing all of them at the same time sounds worse than individually! I hope that they don't all bother you at the same time.

Geri, glad to hear that it is NOT Lupus, nor cancer. So now they think it might be due to pinched nerves and/or radiated pain? I hope that they can figure it out soon, and that there is something that can alleviate the pain.

My medicare supplement offers a free physical once a year but because of my medical conditions I am at the doctor's a couple times a year so I don't do the complete physical. I recently changed my eating habits and am now eating much larger servings of vegetables, and a much bigger variety. Every time I went shopping I would pick up a new veggie from the produce department, research online how to prepare it and I am finding so many more vegetables that I enjoy, instead of the little side serving of corn, peas and green beans we usually have with our dinner. I am feeling so much better, and getting better lab results than I've ever had before. I had a lot of back and hip pain that is now gone since I started eating steamed kale. Many people think it is coincidence, but a couple times I was without kale for a week or so and the pain returned. When I went back to the kale, the pain went away again. Champagneonice you might want to look into that. It can never hurt to eat more vegetables, and if it helps with your pain like it did mine, you're ahead of the game. MF, I know that preventive care is a good thing, but I am like you, they can find so much that I really don't want to know about! LOL
