Are any of you using products or services specifically designed to assist seniors (like life alert or jitterbug)? Which ones are you using or have tried in the past? Are they really helpful or just a marketing gimmic?

My mother uses a spin off of the Jitterbug and personally I find it is more trouble than what it is worth. There is an emergency 911 button on the back of her phone she is constantly pressing and the volume of the thing is so loud you can hear it in a crowd in the middle of a busy day at the mall. She constantly forgets to turn it down when in church or anywhere else you shouldn't have a cell phone. Sure it has big buttons that light up but in my opinion it also singles her out as someone that might be vulnerable. I'm afraid her cell phone is going to get her mugged.  I think she'd do just as well if not better with a simple non-smart phone.
