Looking for new internet friends! Just a late 50's lady who likes to be social online with other 50's and 60's females who see life from being raised with that perspective being born in the 50's.... a mature woman who maybe disco danced in the 70's and then wore big hair and shoulder pads in the 80's. LOL

First, my apologies for just now seeing your post. So, to you, a HUGE welcome!! I'm from the disco era. I loved it and attended disco dances every weekend. I did have an afro once. I just turned 68 and I've often wondered over the past few years where all the time went. I'm so looking forward to reading your posts, so I hope you will visit again real soon.

My best to you,

Geri

Too late for my 50's I'm afraid! Where did the decades go???

I never got into the big hair because mine is too thin and fine. I did iron it, use frozen juice containers for curlers and had a little suitcase hair dryer with a hood to keep heat on the curlers.

I disco-ed. I twisted. I jitterbugged. I did the hand jive. I did the jerk and watusi. And a bunch of other bone and muscle torturing dances. I also had dance lessons and tapped, balleted, jazzed and hula'd away hours.

I played with dolls until high school and so did a lot of my friends. Loved teather ball, hula hooping and pogosticking. Seems we were kids longer, then.

I had no cell phone. The house had one phone. We played 45's on a record pla.yer....no stereo. No Ipod, Ipad, no Kindle or e-books, manual typewriter (but not my own until high school. Used fountain pens, learned to sew on a plain straight sitch sewing machine, hung clothes on the clothesline to dry, used a mangle to iron most things, wore hand-me-downs and ate the sugar cube with polio vaccine.

Betcha most of those ring bells for you!

Hi, Marti and all, Oh my...I do remember those curler kits but I never had to use them. You always want what you don't have, I guess...I wanted straight hair! You danced A LOT, Marti! lol That's great. I danced only disco...I was so shy and introverted as a teen...but you'd never know it now... I agree...we were kids longer! I played with Barbie until I was 14 (almost typed 24...but that would not be true..LOL) No cell phones...no computers....amazing! I never could sew...wish I could! I envy you! LOL I was a mess in home ec. class! haha Loved reading you!

Did you ever play with paper dolls? Boy, I did and I still miss those! Yep, I remember the sugar cube vaccine. I still have several 45s, which I still play once-in-a-while. (Ah, takes me back to the good ol' days!) And I still hang my clothes on the outside clothesline. The dances (beside disco) I learned were the Bristol Stomp and the Twist, as well as a few others. Thanks for sharing!
