Pope resigning due to his age

85 year old Pope Benedict XVI is resigning on Feb 28. He says his advanced age has rendered him unsuitable to carry out his duties. He will be the first Pope in over 600 years to resign his duties.

Any thoughts on this?

I don't believe this is the real reason. He was elderly when he took on the job. They are all elderly!!!! I think he just doesn't want to do it anymore and this is a really rough time to resign with Lent starting in two days and Easted coming the end of March. I am not a Roman Catholic and I am saying this. I feel for members of his flock. But I am also worried about the who will take his place. He has stuffed the College of Cardinals with men more conservative than he and so I see more hard times coming for his flock in how they deal with the sex scandal, woman and recruitment of priests to name a few things.

Im not Catholic, so maybe I see this totally different than someone of that faith, but I agree with the Pope's decision. If he's not able to conduct his duties, then he's correct in resigning.
