Washington, D.C., United States (AHN) - Kids don't have a taste for it, but adults seem to. So this Halloween, when you reach for the black licorice shunned by your child, be careful about consuming too much.
The Food and Drug Administration has warned that black licorice consumed in large quantities can lead to heart arrhythmias and other health problems.
Experts say that consuming 2 ounces of black licorice per day for two weeks can case irregular heartbeats in susceptible adults over the age of 40.

Thanks for sharing, Geri! I'm not a fan, never have been, but I'll pass it on to my mom who loves the stuff. I know she has arthritis in her knee very bad so anything to help!

Hey, there! Good to see you! I know a lot of people who don't like black licorice, my hubby being one of them. He does eat quite a bit of red licorice, though. Looking forward to reading more of your posts here on 60+!

Welcome to 60+, Nancy!! It's very nice to meet you! I have to admit, I'm addicted to black licorice. However, when I realized that it gave me severe heartburn, I quit eating so much of it. Now, 2 or 3 pieces from time-to-time is all I can do. I used to sit here on the 'puter and snack away and it was a hard habit to break.
