Remember how much fun you had fooling around outside when you were a kid? Your kids should be doing the same thing. Sure, it’s fun but it also has tons of benefits, like lowering stress and boosting immunity. Make outside time a regular thing through organized sports (if your kids like them) or with frequent trips to your neighborhood park or playground. “Plan to do outdoor activities together,” says Jennifer Shu, M.D., medical editor of Healthyliving.org. You can make outdoor play part of fun family traditions, like hikes or even lawn games and hopscotch.

Of course this is geared towards kids, but it stands to reason it would work the same for adults. Do any of you feel better if you're outside? Even if you're by yourself?

I'm totally an indoor person, but I do find if I'm doing yardwork I'm not thinking about other things that stress me.

I do feel a lot better when I'm outside.  Just the other day my youngest wanted to go on a walk and I was in a terrible mood.  Once we'd been outside for 5 minutes, I could feel my mood lift.  By the end of the walk we were chasing one another, laughing, and just enjoying the sunshine.  Sometimes I forget how much a change of scenery can help when I'm feeling stress and anxiety!

I totally feel better when I'm outside. I think that the sun helps put you in a better frame of mind, and just the beauty and quiet. It gets you to focus on other things in your life, ones that are prettier and have a calming affect.

I do always feel better if I've been outside doing something. I don't particularly care for yard work but I do always feel more relaxed after good day of gardening.

My ds and I moved not quite a year ago to another city.

I have found we are BOTH spending more time outside...:)...we have a little yard and did some planting and we sit outside for short periods which is really nice...we are really excited to have a yard of our own and we have seen bunnies etc. So absolutely Cool!

Definitely been good for us....
