Hurricane Sandy, no internet
Sat, 11-03-2012 - 6:34am

Hi everyone. My area got hit hard with hurricane sandy. I was w/out power for 3 days. We lost power over the night again, but thankfully it's on once more. I'm without internet and cable so I'm on via my cell service, which has been spotty at best. :(

I hope everyone is doing well. We're going to try to get some food tomorrow. I definitely need milk for the baby. I'm very thankful for what we didn't lose and what we have but my anxiety is definitely at the breaking point. My hometown is destroyed. I just can't fathom. Too many emotions going through my head.

My heart goes out to you...

Tonight I am concerned about my brother.

He was evacuated from his home this morning and I am not too sure if he has been able to go back.

Lost power to.

He was very worried about his pets.

There was a fire and it shut the downtown down and has left many people homeless...:(...

I pray you get your power and Internet back and are able to get some food.

Because of the smoke and visibility issues everything pretty much was shut down.

He was so happy to see me and I was worried senseless.

I gave him some bread a meal and some cans of cold drink.

I hope he can call me soon!

Honey, I know exactly what you are going through.  We had the heat and you have the cold, either one can be deadly.  I saw a lady on the news before this Athena hit and she was begging, pleading for help.  She was worried about freezing to death.  A very valid fear.  We had people die here after Katrina due to the heat.

I hope you keep your power on and get that baby some milk.  I'm sending all my positive energy your way.  I will continue to keep you and the others affected by Sandy in my meditations.

I know that when you look around at places that use to be and aren't anymore you have a feeling of total despair.  I know that you wonder if life will ever be normal again.  It will.  Things will look different now and in some ways it will be better and others not so much but you will get back to your life as it was.

I found it helpful to count my blessings every single day.  I was driving through the most devistated area of town to get to school but I was able to drive and get to school and there was a school to go to.  I had my family all still alive and well.  I had no kitchen but I was able to make due with a toaster oven and an electric burner.  I invested in an electric frying pan as well.  I baked six dozen cupcakes six cup cakes at a time in that toaster oven for a bake sale.  You will be amaized when you look back and saw all that you were capable of.
