I'm not talking about the family and friends aspect, just that it seems so hard to be cheery when you're constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. I swear I live my life like that and I don't know if it's because stuff always happens to me/us, or if I make it happen because I live with this fear that something is going to happen.

Anxiety really sucks. :(

Hello-

I hope you are feeling a little better today. Not sure what you mean by saying you're 'waiting for the other shoe to drop all the time"? What kind of "stuff" always seems to be happening to you that would cause you to feel this way and is it just around the holidays this happens?  Well regardless of what it is, stuff is happening to me now for about 3 years and getting a little worse everyday it seems.  I lost my job 3 years ago and have not found one that will pay me to survive but I am being optomist about my "horrid" circumstances just the same.  Sometimes however, it is not about trying to cheer yourself up because sometimes we cant do that andmight need to talk to someone depending on the seriousness of the problem you are experiencing.  I feel alone too at times and I am in my 50's now and no family, If I let myself think about the future I could just cry and scream LOL but no use going down that road!   You are not alone no matter what you are going through even though it feels that way.  I do know that "living with a fear that something is going to happen" could be a medical problem and I would encourage you to talk to your doctor and let them know how you feel. It is real and needs to be taken seriously.  All the best, you will get through it and so will I.
