Is Your Anxiety Normal?

Found this article and it is really interesting and helpful.

"Everyone worries at least some of the time. Whenever you are in a mode of trying to avoid something bad, stress and fear are a natural reaction.

So, then the question becomes: How much is too much?

That is where we take a page from the "serenity prayer" that is credited to the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr. In its most popular form, it reads:

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."

The beauty of this simple adage is that it gives you a good formula for thinking about whether you are having too much anxiety."

I probably lean towards the other end of the spectrum and don't worry enough when I really should be worrying.

I once dated a man who in my opinion had some sort of anxiety problem. It was like he overthought every single thing and could turn something as simple as dinner at a restuarant into a very unpleasant experience with his worry about parking, someone vandalizing his car, whether or not the cook washed his hands, how safe we were walking to the parking lot after dinner, etc. He was a complete Donny Downer.
