My husband was just prescribed Celexa for anger and depression. Has anyone here taken it? Does it work? How soon should he notice anything? Are there side affects he should be concerned with?

I am trying to be supportive and want to know to expect so any help you can offer will be appreciated.

  1. Hi Brenda,

I have not ever been on Celexa, but wanted to be supportive and let you know that I hope someone will be able to answer your questions that has taken the medication.

Hi Brenda,

Lorie here CL for Heart Health.

I was prescribed Celexa for Depression and it worked very well.

Sometimes they have to find out what dosage works for each individual.

It can stop working suddenly, that's what happened to me...:( and they couldn't increase the dosage.

I was tapered off of it while being started on a new one.

So far I have had it ONLY increased once.

It takes time for them to begin to work and your husband's doctor should give you an idea, or you can ask the pharmacist...

I keep track of how I am feeling, know possible side-effects and let them know other medications and OTC products I may be taking, and I can pretty much tell how or if it's working.

Communication is the key with your family/friends and your Health-Care Provider.

Hope this helps.

If it doesn't work don't be afraid to ask for them to adjust the dosage or try another Anti-Depressant.
