I feel rotten all the time. I can't exactly pinpoint anything in particular but I have no energy, I don't want to do anything. Not even read or watch tv. My husband thinks I could be depressed. I have nothing to be depressed over as I have a good home, my kids are well behaved and my husband is good to me. We have our problems but nothing unordinary I don't think. I'm a little overweight but not obese. I have a part time job I love. What could it be?

Depression is one of those things that can effect you even when you don't have a "reason" to be depressed. A disinterest in things you usually enjoy, lack of energy and just general blah-ness can be early symptoms. It's definitely a good idea to get it checked out, especially since it's noticable enough for your husband to pick up on it.

I agree sometimes you can feel down for no reason at all. But I would strongly suggest getting a check up just to make sure it isn't a hormonal or chemical imbalance, and let your Dr know how you are feeling.

Welcome to the board!  Thank you for sharing what is going on.

My apologies for not responding sooner, as depression has hit me this past week as well.

A doctor or psychiatrist can diagnose depression.  In my opinion, it sounds like it could be depression.

Is there depression in your family?  Do you have anyone you can talk to?

I often post something I found in a brochure about the criteria for depression.  It kind of gives you an idea if you have depression.  I will find a copy of this and post it for you to read.

From what you wrote, it could be depression.  You can have a great family, a good job, good home and still suffer from depression.  I would try to make a appointment with your family doctor and go from there.

We are here if you need to talk or share.  There are alot of supportive people on this board.

Again, welcome!!

Please keep posting.

Talk to your doctor.  This could indicate many different things.  If you suspect postpartum depression you can read the booklt online "Depression During and After Pregnancy and After Pregnancy" available at
