I really want to reiterate how much the idea of doing something other than what you feel like doing helps with my depression. Someone gave me the advice recently not to trust my brain when it's depressed, so when I feel like lying down, stand up. When I feel like going to bed far too early, go for a walk. When I really don't feel like talking to anyone, connect (even if just by email). When I feel like lashing out at someone because I feel so badly (angry, anxious, etc), resist the temptation to take my bad feelings out on them while in that state and bite my tongue. This (along with my low-dose antidepressant) has been the best advice I've ever gotten in relation to depression. I hope it helps others too.
Interesting, thank you.
This is good.
I printed it too and am going to read it every night until I have it memorized.
Thanks very much for this, it's really useful.

Newredshoes,
I am glad you found the article helpful, me too!
This is a wonderful post. I will share it with as many people as I can. Its largely all advice that I constantly give my depressed cohorts at home.
