What is the difference between Anorexia and Bulimia? Are there different ways of treating them?

Hello,

Sorry it's taking me so long to respond :/

Anorexics do eat but they restrict their calorie intake. Many bulimics also restrict but then binge and purge through the use of vomiting, laxatives or exercise. The binge/ purge becomes addictive and they quickly get in a cycle of bing/purge. This could be several times a week to several times a day.

Anorexics are underweight whereas bulimics tend to be of normal weight or overweight. due to the calories consumed during binges.

I don't know if there is any differences in how they are treated. Every program I have ever been in has had bulimics and anorexics. Eating disorders in general are never about the food/weight. It's more about underlying causes (depression, low esteem, etc.) They become a coping mechanism..an addiction.
