I am having problems with my teenage daughter and trying to understand what is behind some of her choices. I know that my self-image problems seem to have rubbed off on her (I am very overweight) and I wonder if it that isn't causing her to be so rebelious. Do girls with good self-esteem and self-image party?

I would say it depends on what extent you are referring to when you say do they party?  I would not say that is the deciding factor either.  My DD, who is now 24 and a nurse, did like to go to friend's houses when someone was not home & drink alcohol (I am getting specific cause there are all definitions of partying).  She didn't use drugs and she didn't have sex with random people.  she was also a top student, involved in sports and other activities and I would say she had no self esteem problem--she was also attractive and had lots of friends.  Even today, she works hard, but is very social, so on her free time, she likes to go out with friends and some of that involves drinking--probably more than I would like, but she tries to be responsible, won't drink & drive and I don't think she is falling down drunk either.

probably the thing that's causing her to be so rebellious is....being a teenager.
