Have you ever received a gift that really did a number on your self esteem whether it be a boost or damage?

Not really. In fact, a gift that may seem offensive to some, I take in jest. It's like "You did what?!", or, "You bought me what?!"... and laugh it off. It isn't the end of the world, lighten up. :)

did he give you the purse, or keep it for himself (lol)? you should've taken it back to the store so that you could buy it later, on your own terms!

nah, it's just stuff. all that matters is whether i like the gift or not. if i like it, i keep it; if not, it goes to goodwill or back to the store.

This is a really good question.

I once really loved this purse.

My attitude was if it's still there I will buy it for myself.

I was in and out of an Abusive relationship.

He went ahead bought the purse and my daughter had told him not a good idea.

She knew how how much it had meant to me to get it for myself.

I am very independent.

I was still working and was so excited pay-day to go get it, it was "GONE"!!!...:(...

Sometimes I think people can sabotage your Self-Esteem intentionally by doing something like this or buying you something that doesn't fit.

Mean-Spirited!
