How do you feel good about yourself?

I am pretty sure I have low self esteem and everyone keeps telling me that I need to feel good about myself and get some confidence but how? How do you just decide you are going to feel good about yourself and move on?

Do something creative - paint a new art piece, write a new song, create a story. Think of something that you can do well and then do it. Don't stop until you've completed it. You'll feel good about your accomplishment and about yourself. Who knows what other creative ideas might emerge in the process.

Hi candysandies.

it might help if you also kept a diary or journal of you day to day feelings and thoughts.  Do some reading and take depression test on the site.  I like: is it a passing funk or depression?  

Use the search box to find more (the spy glass icon). 

It helps to know if you are dealing with self esteem issues or depression.  Don't be afraid to seek professional help for your problems.  Do write about your progress or a difficult  issue you are working on.

i think you have to WANT to be confident, and be willing to work on yourself a little every day. you'll have to figure out why specifically you feel bad about yourself and change each one of those items. like nightangel said, it won't happen overnight (it took me about 5 years). if you want to get started, why don't you tell us some things that you like about yourself, and/or some things that you're good at?

I don't think it's that easy and it doesn't happen overnight, it takes time.
Sometimes looking in to why might be helpful if you don't feel good about yourself...
I actually am taking a Self-Esteem group and it has helped immensely.
Positive Affirmations might help.
