Hi i dont mean to affend anyone when i ask this, its just i am really paranoid about my weight. I'm a size 12 on my bottom half and a 10 on the top half, is this too big? I'm constantly looking in the mirror especially at my stomach area i feel that it sticks out and makes me look 6 months pregnant. I've tried diets but i can't stick to them, has anyone tried diet pills before? I'm going on holiday soon and the thought of being in a bikini is stressing me out :(

Thanks for reading and listening, would be grateful for someones point of view

The problem is to learn how NOT to be paranoid about your weight, been there.  I just think it's so sad when something or someone leads us to believe we aren't perfectly fine just as we are.  I've read many times the last ten years the AVERAGE clothing size for women in the U.S. is a 16, and if that's true then you are likely smaller in body than the average woman is.  So many of us end up with a tummy and so much of our body type is inherited, so some of it is just YOU and nothing that should worry you.  I know, women have been programmed to think otherwise and I agree so much how we're expected to all conform to a size 4.  A size 4 is impossible for so many of us that's just silly.  If what you're dealing with is genuine health problems from what you perceive as being "too big", then deal with the health part of it.  But please don't buy into the hoopla about how we should all be ashamed if we are not some "ideal" in appearance.  Few of us are!!!

My question when I saw your topic headline was "too big for what?"  To wear a bikini?  To be considered sexy?  To be alive on this earth?  Honestly instead of caring about what size you wear, care about your health.  Size 10-12 is not that big.  I am a 14 or 16 depending on the make of the clothing and I know that I could stand to use weight.  If I wore a size 10, I'd be ecstatic.  I can't believe that you actually look 6 months pregnant--look at actual women who are pregnant & see if that is true--if you aren't pregnant & your stomach sticks out that much, you probably would have some kind of tumor or disease.  It probably is just slightly round.  And do not take diet pills--they are not good for you.  If you decide that you could stand to lose some weight, then do it the healthy way by eating less & exercising more.

A size 12 back when I was younger was perfectly fine for a woman. I'm not sure at what point 4 became the size everyone thinks they should be. Woman are taller and healthier than they used to be and for most people single digit sizes are not realistic. If you are size 12 and not overweight than you probably are doing great. Check with a health care professional if you are unsure of what a healthy weight range might be for you personally.

i know you've heard this before, but size is just a number. one manufacturer's 12 may be another manufacturer's 8. i usually wear a 6 in store-bought clothes but i'm a 10 according to most sewing patterns (i make most of my own clothes). there's absolutely no consistency whatsoever. it's more important that your clothes fit and flatter you and that you like what you wear. and if you think that your stomach sticks out, check your posture. make sure that you're walking/sitting/standing up straight. pull your shoulder blades back and your shoulders down and away from your ears. suck in your stomach (pull your belly button in towards your spine) and "lead" with your chest instead of your shoulders or stomach. i know it sounds silly but it can truly make all the difference!
